So Cedar Campus is just a blessing.
All summer I've been looking forward to July 2nd when I was finally able to come to Cedar Campus to staff SLT again. For me, someone who grew up in the country, the farmlands of Iowa, getting out of the city and retreating to a beautiful place like Cedar Campus is something I need on a regular basis. At the point in life in Chicago, I'm learning to straddle both worlds: the country and the city. While I was in Iowa for a week I recognized that I needed the city and needed the culture of Chicago, yet while I've been in Chicago all year, I've recognized my deep need for nature, quiet, and stars at night. For this reason, cedar is a blessing.
Before I came up here, I knew that this would be a good place to "spiritually detox." This was something I very much needed and was happy to come into. The first few days of precamp with just the staff served exactly that purpose.
Our welcome theme was "The Olympics" and it pulled off well. One of my highlights probably had to be our "luggage-lifting" which was our substitute of "weightlifting" in the Olympics. Three people were out there to be luggage porters and they were dressed in tanktops and shorts and speaking in german and norwegian accents. It was fun.
Keep praying for us as the students just arrived! I'll give another post here soon with hopefully some pictures and updates on our content!
